Kaia is an athlete born with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency, and as a result, she has a shortened right leg, which requires an above-knee prosthetic for mobility. Kaia has accomplished great things in the sporting world, playing wheelchair basketball for the Queensland women’s team and currently holding the Oceania para-powerlifting record for her weight class.

Here’s to Kaia!

What are you most proud of this year?

This year I’m so proud that I was able to work with Sportsgirl and be featured in stores around the country. If I had seen a model with a prosthetic leg in a shop window as a teen, it would’ve done huge things for my self confidence. Beyond grateful to be the example little me needed.

This year I learnt_____

…that you can celebrate your wins and still strive for more. It’s important to be proud of your achievements even if you’re chasing bigger things.

What are you most excited about for next year?

Next year I’m excited to continue to put myself out there and work hard at whatever opportunities come my way.

Next year I’d like to see_____

…more brands regularly include models with disabilities in their advertising.

What are you saying “Here’s To” this year?

Here’s to being proud, being visible and being brave enough to chase opportunities.
