How are you shaping the future?
As the first African South Sudanese woman to play in the AFL, I wanted to shape the future in ensuring the conversation was different when it came to women empowerment. I wanted young South Sudanese women to be seen as bigger than the usual gender roles. I wanted young girls from my community to see themselves represented.

How did you get to where you are?
I started playing AFL in 2013 and got drafted in the AFLW competition in 2016. I got delisted three times and still managed to play for 3 AFL Teams Fremantle, Richmond and Hawthorn and played 40 AFLW games.

How do you want to drive change in your industry?
I drive change by being visible and speaking up on issues that impact my community. I advocate for the people in my community who don't have a voice.

What’s your advice to someone wanting to get into your field?
My advice to them will be to bring yourself and your culture.

Where do you hope to be a few years from now?
I hope to be in the media space continuing to share my vision and story to the rest of Australia. Australia is a diverse community and it’s time that we see it being reflected in our mainstream media channels.
