It's not just about green juices or yoga poses - there’s so much more to it than that.
To me, self care is about giving yourself a moment to just ‘be’. Doing something that quiets your mind and makes you feel settled in your body.
What's your favourite thing to do when you're feeling stressed out?
Too many things to choose from! I love to be near water so I'll head to the beach for walk or I'll watch my favourite TV show. Sometimes I will shut out the world, turn on some great tunes, turn OFF my brain and let my hands sketch or paint for a while.
What's your wellness mantra?
"I ask the universe for what I need and I will recieve it"
Name 3 things that always put you in a good mood:
- My family
- My art
- Hiking and exploring
To me wellness and self care is about being happy, doing what makes you happy and having a positive outlook on life. I think it is split into 3 areas being social wellness, emotional wellness and physical wellness.
For me social wellness means having a good support network/circle who can celebrate your wins with you but also be there in your losses. I think for a support network you don’t need to have a big social circle and it can even be just having one or two people you can go to. As long as they are a positive influence on your mental health
With emotional wellness, to me that means doing things that make you happy, and having positive coping mechanisms. But that doesn’t mean you won’t at times struggle, but instead you’re able to see the positive in it when possible and not dwell on it for too long.
For physical wellness I don’t think it’s fitting the societal beauty standards and being a certain size, but instead being happy and confident in your own skin that you have your own standard of what beauty is to you. I think being happy with how you look and embracing it!
To me overall to have wellness it involves being happy as much as you can in everything you do and in every area of your life where possible.
