High Rise Jeans You'll Reach for on Repeat
High-rise jeans are the backbone of our women's denim jeans edit. This collection stocks three core leg shapes: cropped culotte, full-length wide leg, and straight leg.
The colour range runs from pale, sun-faded washes right through to deep, saturated blues, with a single paisley print thrown in for good measure.
Everything here is built to sit at your waist and stay put, no matter how many times you throw them on. Find your pair inside our full denim edit.
What does high rise mean in jeans?
In denim, the rise is the distance from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband. A high rise means that distance is long enough for the waistband to sit at or just above your natural waist.
High rise and high waisted mean exactly the same thing, so you'll see both terms used across the site for our women's high waisted jeans.
What this does in practice is straightforward: no gap at the back when you bend forward, and nothing to tug at when you sit down. Our denim fit guide walks you through the full set of measurements if you want to get technical.
How do high-rise jeans differ from mid-rise jeans?
High rise sits at or above the natural waist. Mid rise sits between the waist and the hip bones. Low rise jeans sit down on the hips. That positioning changes how a pair feels across a full day.
A high rise holds its spot through sitting, bending and moving, so there is no adjusting. A mid rise gives more room through the torso, which people with longer bodies often prefer.
Low rise jeans sit lower again and move with you in a different way, though the fit is less anchored through the middle.
What body type should wear high rise jeans?
Women's high rise jeans work across a whole range of body shapes. The thing that actually changes the look is the leg shape you pair with them. Ours run from a size 4 to an 18.
The rise marks the narrowest part of the torso and sets the leg line from the waist down. Longer torsos get more coverage from a high rise, while shorter torsos often find a cropped hem keeps the proportion balanced.
The waistband sits where you want it to sit, and the rest is up to you.
Which high-rise leg shape should you go for?
Our high-rise styles split into cropped and full-length cuts, and include high-waisted straight-leg jeans alongside the wider shapes.
The detail work such as pocket placement, waistband treatment and print is the second decision you'll make. We've been cutting denim for Australian women since 1948, so we've had a fair while to work out which shapes earn their spot.
The cut you go for depends on the silhouette you're after:
1. Cropped culotte styles – Wide through the leg, with a hem that stops above the ankle. Our culotte jeans come in both a stretch build and a classic build.
2. Full-length wide leg – The widest cut in the range, falling from the hip to the floor. Our wide leg jeans are all high-rise wide leg jeans, running from light wash to dark wash.
3. Straight leg – The narrowest of the three, a clean line from the knee down. Our straight leg jeans are high-rise straight leg jeans, all in a neat, unfussy cut.
4. Patch pocket styles – Front patch pockets in place of standard scoop pockets, on both cropped and full-length cuts.
5. Detail-led styles – A tailored tie waist, gold buttons, and a paisley print.
How do I style high-rise jeans for different occasions?
Styling high-rise jeans starts with the waistband. A tuck or a half-tuck puts it front and centre, and the hem length decides the shoe. Cropped hems sit well with a flat, while a full-length wide leg wants a bit of height or a chunky sole.
Four ways to wear them, sorted by occasion:
1. Everyday – A slim-fitting tank or tee tucked into your favourite blue jeans, finished with flat sandals or sneakers. Grab a few singlets and tank tops to rotate through.
2. Cooler days – A striped knit or a cardi layered over the top, plus boots. The high waist keeps everything tucked in neatly.
3. Work – A tailored or tie-waist style with a crisp shirt. The clean line of a straight leg reads polished without trying too hard.
4. Going out – Dark indigo or black jeans, a going-out top, and a small bag. That is the whole outfit sorted.
