INDUCTION

Whether you’re full time, part time or casual, within your first month of work at Sportsgirl we’ll arrange for you to attend a half-day induction at your state office. During this half day you’ll learn more about Sportsgirl’s vision, our culture and our Selling Skills training package.

INITIAL TRAINING

All staff undertake an initial six-day training program when they commence at Sportsgirl, which covers the basic systems and procedures you need to know to fulfill your responsibilities. Initial training is backed up by monthly discussions with your manager on your progress, within the first three months of employment. This is a great opportunity to ensure we are providing you with all the training you need.

SALES TRAINING

Sportsgirl’s Sales training program starts with a detailed training session at induction, which is followed up by training on the sales floor by one of Sportsgirl’s top performers.

REGULAR SUPPORT

An important part of working at Sportsgirls is to feel supported in your work. While you’re welcome to have a one-on-one with your manager at any time, regular appraisals provide an opportunity for you to assess and discuss your progress, your development and your personal goals together.

ROADSHOWS AND AWARDS NIGHTS

At the start of each season all staff are invited to attend Sportsgirl’s Roadshow to showcase a new season’s range. These are fun, exciting nights that combine product training with fashion parades to illustrate the latest trends and how they are achieved. You’ll always be one step ahead with your styling! Twice a year Sportsgirl holds awards nights to recognise the top performing staff in each state.

CONFERENCES AND TRAINING CAMPS

Conferences and training camps are held at regular intervals throughout the year for our Store Managers and top 2ICs (second in commands). These are fantastic opportunities for the Sportsgirl crew to get together, share experiences, exchange ideas, and work towards a bigger and better Sportsgirl. While schedules are grueling, conferences and camps are also a lot of fun! Managers are flown to a central location to work with their peers from around the country. Conferences may include all stores or select turnover groups, depending on the training objectives, and top trainers and external speakers offer additional insight and inspiration.

SUCCESSION PLANNING

Sportsgirl is committed to developing our crew members to wherever they hope to get to – we’d like to help you carve out your career path! Different training modules are provided on a regular basis to ensure you have the skills you need to take on your next role successfully. And regular discussions with you manager ensure your success is the constant focus for your training.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT MODULES

At Sportsgirl we believe in rewarding ability and giving staff the opportunity to develop their skills. That’s why we offer a twelve month career development program for top performing 2ICs and new Store Managers. This program is designed to improve and refine people management skills. It covers eight modules conducted over one half day every month. Sessions are held in state offices with one of our CDM Trainers.
