In 2009 Sportsgirl unveiled its first ever SG branded stand-alone accessory stores at Melbourne Airport’s Virgin terminal and QVB in Sydney. In an Australian retail first Sportsgirl launches an interactive online community as part of its brand new site from July. The new-look space gives Sportsgirls a voice to express themselves, to say what they love, what rocks their world and what inspires them.
In August Sportsgirl will launch a bigger, bolder, better Sportsgirl. A fashion destination like never before and its biggest store ever. The new superflagship at the redeveloped Chadstone Centre has been cleverly designed in association with renowned UK architects HMKM, featuring 12 different fashion zones to turn your shopping trip into a true fashion experience.
In September 2008 Sportsgirl's Super-flagship landed and flung open its doors revealing an exciting, ever-changing, interactive world-class retail environment. The new Sportsgirl space was designed by internationally renowned UK architects HMKM and is located in Bourke Street, Melbourne, its a perennial hive of activity, that will transform the shopping experience forever.
Sportsgirl kicked off 2007 with a bang at the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Launching the season and the “I Like Sportsgirls Best” campaign with the help of a custom built bar made entirely of industrial water containers, an amazing light show and Australian electro-rock act, The Presets took centre stage. 2007 also saw Sportsgirl take on new and exciting challenges, with the opening of its first ever accessory concept store at Chermside in Queensland, adding to the family of 106 stores (and counting!).
Sportsgirl also embarked on a partnership with The Butterfly Foundation, to help raise awareness and funds to assist those suffering from eating disorders. Sportsgirl helped host the Butterfly Ball and managed to far exceed expectations by raising over $100,000 in two months through the sale of the Sportsgirl Butterfly Bracelet.
Support for up and coming Australian design talents also continued to be a major focus for 2007, with ranges designed exclusively for Sportsgirl by Arabella Ramsay, Filli & Grane, LifeWithBird, Mogil, State of Georgia and Sportsgirl’s own, Jo Nation.
From future fashion stars to retro classics Sportsgirl also launched its first Sportsgirl Rewind range. Taking inspiration from the Sportsgirl design archives, Rewind re-visited such classic pieces as the Sportsgirl logo tee, beach towels and duffle bags, all produced in limited numbers, complete with special packaging for collectors. Finally, Sportsgirl launched it’s online store, meeting constant popular demand to make Sportsgirl available online, around the world and taking the next big step in the Sportsgirl journey.
