    Hi ladies,

Soooo around two weeks ago i had a nightmare of a haircut. I'm not sure if anyone remembers the childrens book Grug....but i kinda look similar to him now haha.
Anyway so it has been bothering me alot because i loved having longer hair. So i have been thinking about getting hair extensions put in?

Have any of you got or had hair extensions? If so do you recommend any nice places in Melbourne who do them? Maybe i should just put up with it until my hair grows back...I just know it will take forever.

Admittedly I am a little scared after seeing a girl on the train the other day, i could see her hair extensions poking through her hair....it was very Britney Spears :(

    Thanks girls x

Ooooh that sucks :S But kind of funny :)
I'm sorry...I haven't actually ever had extensions but my friend once got a supposedly reputable brand of extensions put in and after a while it began to pull her hair out and she got MAJOR headaches...she had to practically cut them out.
I don't mean to scare you :) Just be really careful.
Are you sure you can't just hide it with a cute scarf or beanies (it's winter now!!) or something?

Hope it works out whatever you do :)

Yeah, unfortunately I have never seen hair extensions done well. They usually just look like very expensive rats tails. Have you seen Jenny in the latest series of Gossip Girl? Yikes!

I too have had horror haircuts (I used to keep my hair short-short, as in boy-short, and so many hairdressers just don't have any idea how to cut these hairstyles!) but I just used headscarves, hibernated for a bit, and got some very cute clips and alice bands to remind people I'm a girl. These kind of accessories are really popular now, too, so you should be able to find cool stuff everywhere.

And lastly, while it doesn't seem like it now, you will get used to it. My dad always said, the difference between a bad haircut and a good one is about two weeks :-)

    Thanks girls,
Well out of curiosity I priced a few places, and It turns out that It will cost roughly $900 - $1500. I am thinking that could buy a lifetime supply of hairclips and beanies haha.
You are spot on too girl_interrupted, you can always pick a girl with hair extensions. And I would much prefer to look like grug for a few months, then look like trailer trash :)
And dance_like_me, I have heard a lot of horror stories about girls developing headaches and stuff because of them. So thanks again for your advice, I am off to buy some killer hats & headbands :)

P.S girl_interrupted your blog is amazing. You seem like you always have so much fun. I am a vintage addict at the moment too x

Apart from everything else, I just hate the idea of wearing the hair of some impoverished Russian or Indian woman who had to sell her locks for food-money on my head. It's just all kinds of wrong.
And if you get the synthetic stuff, well, you might as well buy a bad wig!

No! Don't feel bad :S Even I was considering trying extensions a while ago because I was so sick of my permenantly shoulder length hair! I've changed my mind though :) Did you end up finding some cute accessories to try hiding it until it grows??

    Dear ezzabezza,
Oh no! I didn't want to make you feel bad! I only found out about this because I was considering getting hair extensions myself (I'm growing out a bob and it's going through a very blah stage at the moment).
Wanting hair extensions does not in any way make you a bad person - most people don't know where they come from.
Good luck growing out your hair. I've also been doing the whole head-scarf, bobby-pin or head-band routine. Can't wait till it's long enough to tie up in a pony-tail or bun! :)

I unfortunately got my amazingly long hair cut off to just below shoulder length a few years ago, biggest regret ever! So I do wear hair extensions but I look after them and place them well so that they look fairly real, and you can't see any clips etc. I don't want to look like some girls who do not look after them, so they become ratty, or they just chuck them anywhere in their hair. I use just clip ins, I wouldn't recommend glue in ones etc. because they can damage YOUR hair, and that wouldn't be helpful at all. I buy a new set of them every few months and I get them off http://www.cleopatrahairextensions.com.au/. The prices are fairly cheap but the quality is great :) If you order any just make sure you read the instructions about how to look after them and how to place them :) Their also helpful to wear whilst growing your own hair if you're very self-conscious about short hair.

I hope that helps you at all if you do decide to purchase extensions, but having short hair or even a bob can be a sick look to pull off :) So embrace it either way!
    xx

Haha no worries Artep, not only is sad to think of somebody else having to cut their hair off to make money. But the thought of having someone else's hair on my head kinda freaks me out.

My hairdressing friend ( not the nuffy that gave me a grug haircut) recommended Jessica Simpson/Ken Paves hair pieces. They look pretty good, and I sussed them out on youtube & they look really easy to put in. They are something you can pop in your hair on the weekends if you want to feel a bit special.
    Wish me luck :)
