Brunswick st in Fitzroy is worth a look for Vintage, but don't count on the bargains.
For op-shops, I'd recommend going to suburbs that aren't seen as 'chic' or that don't really have a young demographic so you can find items that others haven't. You might think places like Toorak would be full of designer goods, but because chain op-shops (salvos etc) share their stock...A Chanel handbag donated to a store in Toorak might turn up for sale in Epping because they need more stock. There are stores that are known for designer goods but having worked in an op-shop, the workers don't always notice. I once bought a lovely Dior Homme silk tie for my dad for 50cents. Also, it's always good to ask the owner. Some keep the really nice stuff out the back or behind the counter!

Hope that helps! I love vintage shopping.

    I love vintage shopping :)
it's not in the UK but it's in America. And it probably ships internationally.
It's called Urban Outfitters..... i think it has vintage items, but i guess it depends on your qualitifaction of vintage.

Urban Outfitters is definitely in the UK!!!! It's one of my favourite shops.

The idea of buying pre-edited vintage from places like UO or General Pants is an interesting one. I, for one, think I am willing to pay a little more for something if it means I don't have to spend hours trawling through junk and potentially still come away empty handed. BUT sometimes the prices are absolutely ridiculous! Unless it's actually designer label, I think vintage or 'thrifting' is supposed to be an affordable way to update your wardrobe and get something a little different to distinguish yourself from the crowd.
