Croatia, Italy

Also, was thinking about going to Italy after that. Anyone been? Would appreciate any tips about where to stay, where to avoid, etc...

Croatia isnt as safe as many other european tourist destinations so be very careful there.
I havent been to italy yet but ive studied italian for many years, and i would recommend going to rural areas and such - the typical tourist destinations are must-sees but there is so much in italy not to be missed!

girl_interrupted: said this on Monday 21 September 2009, 02:14 AM; Croatia was totally amazing! Definitely now count it as one of my favourite countries that I've visited. And it's totally safe, no issues there at all. Rome was a disppointment after Croatia! Will definitely have to go back to Italy to see the rest of the country, as we liked the smaller towns way better than Rome, which is the most touristy place I think I've ever been. My advice would be not to go in summer if you can avoid it.

You just need to do a little research to find those out of the way places.
