I don't have awful skin or anything, but everybody gets the occasional whopper of a pimple that simply must be dealt with! I've found that Clarins blemish remover (two little vials for $44) is effective but pricey, and I need to get a new one soon. Clean & Clear spot treatment did nothing for me - complete waste of money. Oh, I need a new cleanser, too. Any recommendations? I'm thinking of trying out Jurlique's spot treatment ($30 for a much bigger bottle than Clarins).

I quite like Mario Badescu products. They are quite expensive, but as someone who's used supermarket brands for a long time, I have come to realise they just don't do anything for my skin anymore like they did when I was younger.
Mario Badescu has great cleansers and also the best drying lotion for spots.

I use to have quite alot of pimples and had tried many things. I didnt think it would work but i tried proactive solution and OMG my skin is completly clear most of the time now. Any way i still get a few spots now and then but yeah, i dont know weather u want to resort to proactive cos its pretty strong and it does make your skin flakey sometimes, but id rather have that than spots. Actually when i first used it i got a bit of a rash but then i stopped using it and then used it afew days after the rash had gone and my skin cleared up. ALSO i use a very tiny amount of the cleanser and toner and the cream that comes in the kit, and i only use it once a day and moisturize twice a day. It lasts ages. haha im writing too much, in conclusion it worked wonders for me but its more like a complete skin system not a just a spot treatment. Sometimes if i get a really ouchy pimple i put ice on it and it helps...

I don't really get them, but when i do get one its very noticeable and annoying... ^ reading that, your very lucky because a few of my friends when they were 15-16 tried using proactive and it did nothing but make it worse.

All i can say is visit a Dermatologist and they'd recommend the best things to use (pricey)!, Roacctane that really strong medication that is meant to clear up your skin, don't go on it if you have a problem with depression, it also gets worse before it gets better. I use clinique stuff though, just the cleanser/ toner and my own moisturizer :)

i try to take really good care of my skin and as a result i rarely get pimples but i have a lot of blackheads and i'm generally unhappy with my skin tone. i'd be interested to see a dermatologist but i feel like my skin might not be bad enough to get an appointment. Do you need a referral from a doctor?

You don't need bad skin love to see a dermatologist, you can go if your unhappy about your skin tone etc and they will help you.
Yes you do, but i do know some around where i live anyway you can just make an appointment to see one, but most you do from my friends experiences.

Blackheads are my main problem too! They are the worst and nothing really helps.

going to see a dermatologist is one of those things I really need to do, but never get around to. Do they just prescribe medications for your skin or do they provide other treatments too?
I know I hate blackheads! They cover my nose and no amount of facial scrub will get rid of them!

They will usually prescribe medication for whatever problem it is, i know that there are special medications/creams that help get rid of blackheads. They also might refer you to a beauty place where they can do something for you, but mostly prescribing stuff is what they do!

I wish I could afford to go to one. Or even just a high-end beautician to have microdermabrasion or something. Would be worth it, I think.
