looking to do a make up course in Sydney CBD.
mostly out of interest or maybe for some part time work on the side depending how i go / like it.

could anyone recommend some where is Sydney? (or places to avoid)
ideally need to do it part time.

Considered Napoleon but have heard they mostly flog/teach you to use their own products.

    thanks girlies

Argghhh! Today Tonight, just the mention of their name is like a thousand knives into my brain!!!
Seriously though, I thought about being a makeup artist once, but my Mum didn't approve much.
I thought about going to Napoleon 'cause it looked good- I think with such a high profile place, there's going to be bad stories along with the good, just because it gets talked about alot more than others. No other makeup school has been on TT have they? I'm sure people have had bad experences at other schools, but nobody cared enough to talk about it.

Still...I saw a video in which Napoleon himself said never to put foundation on your forehead...HUH?!?!?

hmm that kind of makes sense, then maybe i wouldn't get pimples under my fringe. but for non fringed people thats confusing, it wouldn't blend.

oh maybe i'm weird but i'm actually with napoleon on that one - i don't put foundation on my forehead!
only if i'm going out alllll night long and am going for a more made up look..
but if you have pretty good skin AND the perfect shade of foundation its all good without - just blend baby just blend.
(and think of the money you'll save on using less makeup!)

Maybe I should try it - my makeup is running out & I need to stretch it out as far as possible! I don't think you can get it in Australia. Arrggh!

i was a bit unsure about napoleon as well when i was looking for a course to do...
but i'm almost finished my 9 week certificate course with napoleon in bridal, fashion and glamour makeup now, and it is worth it. the trainers really know what they're doing.
and yes, they do teach only their products, but it's good in that sense - because you learn a really effective makeup technique using specific products with tips and tricks to make it look the best that it can.
they don't make you buy an entire kit, so you can go on afterwards with everything you've learnt and make up your own kit with products you love.
you can do a 9 week course or an entire diploma course with napoleon, the diploma course they only offer in new south wales and victoria in 2010 though. not in qld :(
but i've heard good things about the academy of makeup's diploma course... :)
