YOUR BIGGEST SPLURGE: WAS IT WORTH IT?

sportsgirl_lovahh: said this on Tuesday 14 July 2009, 10:16 PM; We’ve no doubt all been a victim of profligacy and have gone OTT with the credit card, whether it was because if we didn’t grab that draw-dropping dress it might suddenly disappear off the face of the earth or simply to satisfy the urge of replacing the newly ex-boyfriend. Okay, I’m admitting I’ve fallen prey to this trap, spending (what I think was) gazillions on a cocktail dress. I’m sure if my credit card had hands it would have grabbed me by the shoulders and shaken some sense into me. But in the end was it worth it? I can say I don’t regret buying the dress and still love it to this day :) but not all of us have been so lucky. What’s been your biggest splurge and was it worth it?

I obsess over purchases so much that I never splurge, unless it is for the most sensible, mulit-purpose, exceptional cost-per-wear ratio, 100% perfect item.
Shopping can be quite exhausting trying to find it!

Since realizing this I have tried to amend my ways and splurge on sensible items like an amazing trench I bought at zara. I actually find it way more satisfying as I wear it all the time! Worth it for sure! But I can't ever stop myself from getting an amazing new dress for the races in November! Sadly they spend slot of their life in my wardrobe :( there just aren't any red carpet moments in my calendar dammit ;)

I don't know why but around winter I was always thinking about them (maybe I saw a pic in a mag somewhere?) and I could never find ones that were just right. Last year I saw them in a shop window, went in and tried them on and they were MAGNIFICENT! Much to my dismay the price tag was horrendous, but I bought them anyway and never looked back. I will wear them forever. Definitely worth it :)

they're lovely red suede ankle boots with military style studs going up the sides.
i dont regret them yet, but havent worn them yet either.

There isn't always a happy ending when it comes to shoes. A friend of mine splurged on a pair of designer shoes because she had had “a sucky day” only to call me frantically the next saying she regretted her purchase. Sadly, for said friend, the only thing standing in the way of getting back her money was a non-refunds policy!
Let this be a lesson for all :)
