A military jacket is a great investment piece. I haven't worn mine for about 3 years, but now I can get it out again. I would recommend getting one that is a bit more interesting, with a hint of military - not something that looks like you could actually go to war in it! You will get over that very quickly!
Mine has military buttons & puffed sleeves/shoulder pads, but is in a pastel striped fabric.
