Brisbane ex-pat Geneva, from the popular DIY fashion blog "A Pair & A Spare", spills the beans on all things style from the crazy and diverse streets of Hong Kong.
Hi Geneva! Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Geneva, founder of "A Pair & A Spare". I’m a town planner by trade but have recently taken some time out to work on a few other blogging projects. My blog is dedicated to DIY fashion, where I show people how to create their own on-trend and runway-inspired pieces. I showcase two DIY tutorials per week and am currently addicted to everything neon!
Can you describe your personal style for us?
You could describe my style as fashion forward DIY, I never leave the house without throwing on one of my projects – whether it be a cut-off leather mini skirt, a neon yellow tribal necklace or a pair of pom pom embellished wedges. I love integrating colour into my projects and my outfits usually reflect that!

Tell us about what it's like to be in Hong Kong.
I’m originally from Brisbane but am currently living in Hong Kong. I love the diversity on the streets and the fact that every store is a treasure trove of DIY and craft supplies – whether it be a hardware store or local market.
How would you describe the typical style of your town?
In general Chinese people in Hong Kong usually go for traditional luxury brands, but I think the younger generation in Hong Kong are moving towards a more boutique and vintage style – I love re-modelling vintage fashion so I love seeing people do things a little differently.
What do you like most about the style in Hong Kong?
People in Hong Kong have the ability to wear the most "out there" things – some are practically in fancy dress on their way to work - and look absolutely great, and nonchalant, whilst doing it!
Do you have any fave local blogs?
I feel like a traitor to my new city when I admit that when it comes to blogs I go often go down under… I tune in regularly to Zanita, Oracle Fox, Harper & Harley, Tuula Vintage and Il Etait Une Fois – I love getting my aussie fix!
Check back soon as we chat to more of our favourite bloggers about their hometowns, their personal style and what makes their city chic!
