Bring in the cooler months with some smokin' hot tracks - here's what's on high rotation right now in Sportsgirl!
R U Mine - Arctic Monkeys
Since bursting onto the music scene in 2002, UK rock and rollers Arctic Monkeys have set the world alight with their unique style of British garage pop rock. "R U Mine" is their latest release and stays true to their roots of contagious, frenetic indie rock with dirty guitar riffs and plenty of attitude. Considered one of the most important songwriters of this generation, frontman Alex Turner continues to enchant us, and we think the video is pretty cute too - showing the band listening to their single as it's debuted on US radio for the very first time.
Perfect World - Gossip
All hail Beth Ditto, the magnetic lead singer of US band Gossip. They make their welcome return with the uber-catchy dance track "Perfect World", the first single of their forthcoming studio album 'A Joyful Noise'. Gossip continue to transcend genres with the soulful vocals of Ditto sitting back perfectly against the electro-pop thumping beat. Powerful and moving, but with that gospel-inspired sound we originally fell in love with - this is a song that needs to be played loud!
Black White Blue - Ladyhawke
The hawk is back and she doesn't disappoint! Inspired by the 1978 film "Eyes of Laura Mars", about a fashion photographer who could read a serial killer's mind, Ladyhawke (aka. NZ muso Pip Brown) stars as the fash-photographer herself in her latest clip "Black White Blue". With her unique 80s synth-pop sound, this track is catchy and fun with an addictive chorus and plenty of distorted electro effects. Not content to just sing vocals, Pip also played drums, bass and guitar on the song. We're smitten with the rad 70s wardrobe featured in the clip too!
