London-based blogging extraordinaire and Sportsgirl favourite Susie Lau of 'Style Bubble' was on set at the London photoshoot for our Sportsgirls Like Antipodium collection due this September! Here is the first of Susie's guest blog posts where she takes us behind the scenes of the photoshoot.
"Fighting the Elements"
The changing colour of the sky in the pictures would have you believe that Sportsgirl Like Antipodium’s lookbook shoot was done over a number of days. True to British weather form, we had the turbulent elements against us on a day where we chose to shoot outdoors on a rooftop overlooking London. No matter. Chin up. Troop on. Silver lining in the cloud and all that. The shoot went on and I happily went behind the scenes to check out the collection as well as snapping the ins and outs of the shoot.
When the collection entitled ‘Field Day’ arrived, I spent a good amount of time ogling at the clothes, inspired by the East London music festival of the same name. I’ve been to a few Field Days in the past few years and the collection definitely reflects the relaxed and chilled vibe of the festival with emphasis on sportswear-influenced shapes and a slight sense of humour injected in the paisley bandana print.
Look a little closer at the print and you shall find a familiar face staring back… it’s none other than Geoffrey himself with his trademark spectacles!
Here is the man himself getting his portrait shot by photographer Scott Trindle just as the skies opened up and started hailing. It definitely made for a dramatic setting for Geoffrey’s ‘moody’ portrait.
UK Harpers’ Bazaar fashion editor Vanessa Moyle (who happens to be a Melbournite) was on set to style the shoot adding ‘bitchy’ shoes to contrast the easy breezy separates of the collection.
The model Hannah Nobel was the epitome of Field Day cool…

Here’s the team huddling over the screens checking light levels and whether Hannah’s arm or leg needed to be shifted a centimetre or two…
We killed some time on set trying on some of the novelty sunglasses that were meant to be for the model but we decided looked a whole lot better on us.
In addition to changing skies, the team also had to battle with blustery winds as backdrops threatened to blow away. I love how this looks like a gigantic kite flying around…
When it got a bit chilly on the rooftop, Hannah had her own denim shearling coat to shield her. She was very proud of her £6 charity shop (our version of op shops) coat and I was super impressed with how it managed to go with every piece in the Antipodium x Sportsgirl collection.
The real topic of the day was how this chocolate brownie cake vanished in under an hour. I doth protested in the beginning but even I couldn’t resist the sugar-jacked temptation…
Stay tuned as we continue to unveil the Sportsgirls Like Antipodium collection and don't miss part two of Susie's exclusive photos of the behind the scenes action! Check out all the action here!
