We asked Sportsgirls to submit their best music snaps as we searched for our Official Good Vibrations Festival Photographers, and were excited to announce our talented winners, Nicole Cooper and Melanie Desa! The aspiring photographers scored VIP tix as well as Press Pit passes to snap their fave acts - check out the photo diary from Melbourne winner, Mel Desa!

Armed with our VIP wristbands and my four cameras, we were ready for the sweet sensations of Good Vibrations Festival 2011! There was so much to explore and capture with my film and digital cameras as we entered Flemington Racecourse, and I promptly bought an awesome Ting Tings t-shirt.

We kicked the day off with Tim & Jean - go Aussie music!

I just couldn't take my eyes off Ross Duffy of Fenech-Soler (I have a thing for guitarists); he switched from guitar, to cowbell, to keyboard with his guitar pick kept safely in his mouth.

This is me (left, making a weird face) and my lovely friend Lisa.

Following the rainbow to the Sportsgirl Green Room led us to a treasure trove of candy, manicures, and lots of other sweet free stuff, all set to great dj-spun beats. We were first in line to get into the Sportsgirl photobooth!

Friendly Fires got hot and (very, very) sweaty in the midday heat.

I squealed like a nut when the Ting Tings' trademark bass drum was set up - this was the act I chose to go into the press pit for! Running around for the best vantage points and snapping away madly with the other photographers was so brilliant and bizarre, it was a feeling I could definitely get used to.

Katie was a dream to photograph up close - she was cute as a pixie dancing about the stage as she sung the Ting Tings' awesome songs (Fruit Machine and their new single Hands were my favourites), I couldn't help dancing and singing along as I took photos!

Jules De Martino was another talented guitarist/volcalist/drummer that had me swooning, and I must say, he looked fantastic as a blonde.

Some much needed Wonderland water (courtesy of Sportsgirl).

Kelis' milkshake brings all the boys (and girls) to the yard - her performance was amazing! She had a gorgeous outfit which sparkled in the glowing sun and got the whole crowd dancing in no time!

Blue skies + good vibes in Melbourne! We Rushed off to see Bag Raiders right after Kelis, they were really too amazing to miss! We stopped for a tasty dinner snack in the VIP area before the crazy night dash; catching snippets of Ludacris and Faithless before settling in to watch charming French band Phoenix (they were sublime).

Thank you so much Sportsgirl for this incredible opportunity which made me all the more passionate about my photography. I took about one-and-a-half thousand photos! Here's a shot taken by Lisa of me photographing the Ting Tings from the press pit!
