From stylish Stockholm to chic Argentina, we pick 5 hot blogs from the world wide web of street style.
There was a time, long ago, when the Sartorialist wasn’t in our bookmarks, the Facehunter didn’t make us say “what ON EARTH is s/he wearing?”, when Garance Dore didn’t delight us with her whimsical French ways. But those dark days have past, and now we get our daily fashion fix by visiting streets around the globe from the jet-lag free position in front of our laptops. Which means that we’re as likely to be influenced by what the cool kids are wearing in Scandinavia as the girls in the local café or the pages of Vogue.
With this in mind, we’ve pretty randomly selected five of our fave street style sites from around the world so you can get your outfit inspiration, global style.
Continent: Europe
Dear Sweden, why is everyone in you so ridiculously good looking/ stylish? The complete inability to read Swedish doesn’t stop SSS from becoming a daily fave and outfit inspiration go-to for us here at SG HQ. The look is a bit rock ‘n’ roll; lots of tights, bandage skirts, denim cut-offs, edgy looks and picture-perfect peeps. All this thanks largely to editor Caroline who we’d hate for being so perfect if we didn’t love her so much.
Continent: Africa
Team Uncool, your name isn't fooling anyone. We recognise hipsters when we see them. This South African street style site comes direct from the streets of Jo’burg and will enchant your peepers with its exotic delights. Tip: you might wanna stick your wayfarers on said peepers before checking this one out – bright, unique, quirky, fluro, one-off are a few adjectives that spring to mind.
Continent: Asia
They tend to get quite academic on this blog, and despite being a Chinese street style site, it’s in English too. Handy that. But if your geek quota is full and you’d rather just look at shiny things, you’ve got more than enough to keep you happy on this blog straight from the streets of Beijing.
Continent: North America
Mexicans: Is there anything they can’t do? They invented piñatas, sombreros AND ponchos. You’d thing they’d rest on their laurels and be all “ok world we’ve done our bit re: awesomeness.” But no. Instead they wear cute clothes and then blog about them on sites like Diario de Fiestas.
Continent: Various
With street snaps of the most stylish cats from South America and Europe, Iconia mag is a one-stop fash stop for street lovelies at their finest. And fine they are: think high fashion rather than hipster, heels rather than flats, classic over trend. A mountain of style people, a MOUNTAIN.
Got a fave site of your own from some far flung corner of the world? Let us know! We love wasting time researching ace global street style!
