Move over glossies - we're in love with the fashion youniverse of the blogging community. Our bookmarks keep growing every week with amazing girls and guys creating their own little corner of the web. We spend five minutes with one of our fave bloggers at the moment: Sushi from the beautifully-designed and sartorially-inspiring Le Blog de Sushi.
• SG: Can you tell us about Le Blog de Sushi and what it’s all about?
• Sushi: Le Blog de Sushi is a fashion & design blog that focuses on trends, inspiration, street style, shopping, DIY's, sewing/designing, as well as graphic design-related things that catch my fancy.
• SG: When did you start the blog and why?
• Sushi: I started my blog in March this year after thinking it over for several months. The reason why I started my blog was because most of my friends aren't as interested in fashion as I am, and I wanted a place to talk about it as much as I want to, when I want to.
• SG: You’ve got an amazing way of putting together outfits – where do you get your fashion inspiration?
• Sushi: Well thanks! I find inspiration everywhere: runway shows, magazines, photo shoots, on the street, movies, and in particular from many other fashion blogs.
• SG: We’ve got Sushi in our bookmarks – what fashion sites or blogs do you visit regularly?
• Sushi: At the moment my favourites are mypreciousconfessions.blogspot.com, quirkyfille.blogspot.com, blushingambition.blogspot.com, leblogdebetty.com, stylecopycat.blogspot.com, camerafilmroll.blogg.se, absolutelyoblivious.blogspot.com. there's a huge list on my blog that I frequent regularly!
• SG: Why “sushi”?
• Sushi: It's the nickname my fiance gave me years ago and it just stuck. And I decided to call my blog 'Le Blog de Sushi' as a tribute to one of my all time favourite blogs, 'Le Blog de Betty' (and because I wish I was French!).
• SG: There is an amazing blog community out there – what do you think is the best thing about blogging?
• Sushi: There really is! I think one of the best things is being able to connect with so many like-minded people and having so much inspiration around you. I think it is also a great medium for artists/designers/labels who want to get their work out their and seen by lots of people.
• SG: What inspired you to start sewing your own clothing?
• Sushi: I started because there are so many gorgeous high-end designer pieces that I find myself coveting but unable to afford. For example, with the Miu Miu dress from the SS 08 collection, I realised I could make my own version quite easily with a few sewing lessons from my Nonna. There was so much interest from other bloggers that I now have these available for pre-order on my blog. I have also made a bandage skirt, Alexander Wang inspired bag, and plan to do a Alexander Wang inspired skirt very soon!
