We get the inside scoop from glam locals from across Oz, giving you the ultimate guide to their hometown!
It's known as the fashion capital of Australia, so who better to show us around Melbourne than the very glamorous and gorgeous Miss Chelsea Scanlan, the latest local beauty to wow the international modelling circuit. As well as being lots of fun on Sportsgirl shoots, Chelsea has walked the runways for the likes of Josh Goot, Marc Jacobs, Vena Cava and Jessie Hill and we predict big things for the willowy blonde! Take it away Chelsea:
Best place to eat: I love the Stoke House, which is in St. Kilda. It's right on the water so it has a gorgeous view and is known for its seafood. The Panama Dining Room is also really cool - which is on Smith St it's a bar/restaurant/pool house.
Hang out: The Windsor end of Chapel St is a really cool area to hang out. The streets are lined with great vintage shops and a variety of restaurants and bars.
Coffee: Cafe Latte on Malvern Rd in Prahran is gorgeous. Great coffee and the most amazing italian hot chocolate you'll ever taste... think chocolate soup.
Music: Brunswick St has really cool bars with live music.
Go out/ people watch: I love to people watch in Chapel St - sitting outside in one of the cafes with the seating section right on the foot path. There's a random guy who has 5 dogs and rides around on rollerskates... a local around the Windsor area. There are normal people too!
Get in touch with nature: The Botanical Gardens are absolutely beautiful, and also the Yarra River which runs through the city is gorgeous - I wouldn't go swimming though.
If someone had only a day to spend in Melbourne, what one thing would you absolutely recommend they do/ see/ visit? The Docklands ferris wheel - built to rival the one in London is impressive - but personally think it's a ridiculous way to spend taxpayers' money. The great thing about Melbourne is the restaurant/cafe culture - so walk down Flinders Lane or Chapel St or Acland St and experience the people.
For those who haven’t visited the Victorian capital, how would you describe the vibe? Melbourne is a very relaxed, chilled city. People have compared it to European places, which I can definitely see. The cafe culture and cool bars are what differentiate Melbourne from other Australian cities, and of course the people!
How would you describe Melbourne style? Melbourne's style is very sophisticated. In winter you see a lot of beautifully tailored coats and colourful, interesting accessories, and during the summer time you see gorgeous dresses and hats. Melbourne is Australia's fashion capital - and there's a reason for it.
