In case you can't tell, we're head-over-heels for the soulful, quirky and 100% unique vibe of Sia Furler. We were lucky enough to spend five minutes with the uber-talented Aussie songstress as she gets set hit the road and delight audiences with her renowned live shows.
• Sportsgirl: So earlier this year you were wriitng songs with Christina Aguilera: what was the experience like?
• Sia: Amazing she's so, so rad and super crazy talented and it was so fun.
• Sportsgirl: You style is pretty unique, it’s been described as “avant garde pop” …. How would you describe it?
• Sia: i just tell people i'm a pop singer to keep their expecations low. Avant garde pop sounds great!
• Sportsgirl: You have written for and collaborated with amazingly diverse artists. Can you tell us about some of the more standout or memorable artists you’ve worked with?
• Sia: Working with Christina was pretty awesome, but i've really enjoyed working with everyone i've had the pleasure of experiencing that [with]...
• Sportsgirl: What’s your approach to songwriting and where do the ideas come from?
• Sia: I sort of just bark them out. You know, daily life, the world around me, and everything in between.
• Sportsgirl: Pop stardom combines so many things… writing, recording, performing, touring, publicity… what is your favourite part of what you do?
• Sia: Definitely the writing and playing live.
• Sportsgirl: Your music seems to strike a real chord emotionally with audiences. Why do you think this is?
• Sia: i think its best for the audience to answer that! i'm just glad they do. it means a lot to me.
