Could you wear one dress for an entire year? That’s exactly what blogger-with-a-heart Sheena Matheiken is doing, and all for a good cause.
The Uniform Project is a blog that documents her pledge to wear one dress for 365 days as a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, an organisation which helps to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums.
Starting in May 2009, Sheena has been wearing one simple black dress (there are actually seven identical dresses, one for each day of the week!), reinventing it every day with layers, accessories and a whole bunch of creativty.
Sheena says she chose a uniform because "despite the imposed conformity, kids always found a way to bend the rules and flaunt a little personality." The dress, designed with her fashion designer friend Eliza Starbuck, is made so it can be worn both ways, front and back, and also as an open tunic. Her inventiveness and stylistic sense are amazing - we can't wait to see what she comes up with for the next nine months!
