These days there’s a lot more that goes into being a superstylist than simply creating killer outfit combos. In fact many of today’s top stylists are actually spending more time in front of the camera than behind it.
One of the first true superstylists to make her name known further than the fashion cupboard is Patricia Field. She turned Sex and the City from a show about four thirty something New York women into a fashion smorgasbord that helped re-launch the legging and revived Manolo Blahnik for a whole new generation. For her troubles Field received 4 Emmy Awards, 4 Costume Designer Guild Awards, an Oscar nomination for her work on The Devil Wears Prada and was Project Runway’s inaugural guest judge.
Don’t forget Rachel Zoe who in her styling career turned the likes of Mischa, Nicole and Lyndsay from teen-queens into global fashion trendsetters and who in 2008 found herself the star in her very own reality series The Rachel Zoe project.

One to watch is ex-Patricia Field assistant Eric Daman who’s responsible for the mind-blowing fashion of Gossip Girl. Daman is yet to star in his own reality show or launch his own fashion line but surely it’s only a matter of time.

Even Australia has it’s own A-list stylist, in the form of Pip Edwards. Who’s just as likely to be seen putting together looks for Australia’s top brands as she is walking red carpets. So if you always wanted to be a stylist but were scared of missing out on the spotlight never fear.

If you want your first break why not enter for your chance to be Sportsgirl’s own Superstylist.
